Ultrasonic recanalization system and transducer therefor An ultrasonic system for the recanalization of body vessels includes an ultrasonic transducer adapted for insitu insertion into body vessels, an ultrasonic power generator as well as a highly insulated electrical cable for conveying electrical power generated by said generator towards said transducer located in-situ into a body vessel. The ultrasonic transducer is adapted for coupling to a catheter for guiding at the site of the occlusion in the vessel. Echoes from the occlusion are monitored, thereby permitting localisation of the transducer in the body vessel. (Figure 2).
