The sensor device uses a HF generator coupled to the sensor via a HF module. The sensor uses at least two capacitive, electrically conductive, temp.-resistant elements located at the outer edge (6,8) of the radiation heating element and used to determine the size of the pan, to allow automatic selection of the appropriate heating zone (7,9) via an electronic evaluation circuit. Pref. the sensor elements are provided by stainless steel chips with a thickness of between 0.2 and 0.3 mm and suitable for temps. up to 900 deg.C. ADVANTAGE - Combines pan detection and pan size evaluation functions.
