1,086,379. Screw presses. CHEPOS Z‡VODY CHEMICKEHO A POTRAVIN‡RSKEHO STROJIRENSTVI OBOROVY PODNIK. March 11, 1966 [April 5, 1965], No. 10742/66. Heading B5F. A power-operated screw press comprises a screw 14 free to rotate in a ram 13, a nut 15 free to rotate in a frame 11 but secured against axial movement, a flywheel 17 having sliding but non-rotary connection with a grooved end portion 18 of the screw 14, a drive disc 21 firmly joined with the nut 15, means for slowing down the rotation of the drive disc 21, and means for supplying air under pressure to a pressure chamber 24 formed between the adjacent faces of the disc 21 and flywheel 17. In the example shown in Fig. 2, friction brakes 28, 30 are provided for the disc 21 and flywheel 17 respectively, and the disc 21 is driven by a motor 29 through a friction roller 27. Air is supplied to the pressure chamber 24 through a passage 26, and holes 25 in the disc 21. A friction lining 23 is provided between the disc and flywheel. In operation, with the' motor 29 driving the disc 21, flywheel 17, nut 15 and screw 14, the ram 13 remains in its raised position. To operate the ram, air is supplied to chamber 24 to raise the flywheel, motor 29 is de-energized and brake 28 applied to stop the disc 21 and nut 15. The kinetic energy of the flywheel is thus transferred to the ram 13. Modifications.-In Fig. 3 (not shown) the brakes 28, 30 are dispensed with and a polechanging motor used to provide a variable speed drive. A belt drive or toothed pinion may be used in place of the friction roller 27.
|
