Synergistic blend of amine/amide and ester/alcohol friction modifying agents for improved fuel economy of an internal combustion engine

The fuel economy of an internal combustion engine can be improved by adding to the lubricating oil used to lubricate the crankcase of said engine a synergistic blend of amine/amide and ester/alcohol friction modifying agents, for example, by reacting (a) a carboxylic acid, such as oleic acid and/or isostearic acid with an amine, such as diethylene triamine or tetraethylene pentamine, and (b) glycerine monooleate and/or glycerine monoricinoleate.
