The IC engine (1) has an intake air measuring unit (4) with a lambda control influencing interference unit. The interference unit is a valve (10) introducing a disturbance in the control system in the fluid control line (8e) to the fuel pressure regulator (8b) from the inlet manifold (2), or alternatively in the air duct (9) from the engine. Pref. in the latter position the valve is constituted by a branching piece with an air line leading from the duct to a chamber under a sampling head. USE/ADVANTAGE - To check on correct functioning of lambda control. On motor vehicles fitted with exhaust catalytic convertors, lambda control influenced simply and reliably by fuel supply pressure regulator or control valve in inlet air manifold.
