<p>A rotary damping coupling 3 between a backplate 1 bolted to a flywheel of an engine and an input shaft of a gearbox provides low stiffness, intermediate stiffness and high stiffness for torque transmission, the stiffness stages becoming effective in turn with increasing torque. The low stiffness is provided by resilient meandering arms 8, the intermediate stiffness by resilient bridge (9') across air gaps 13 and the high stiffness by resilient blocks 9. The arms 8, the bridges (9') and the blocks 9 may be parts of a single-piece, annular damper 6 or the damper may be in two separate pieces, with the arms being in an annular inner piece and the bridges and parts corresponding to the blocks 9 being in an annular outer piece. <IMAGE></p> |
