A cotton fabric has zones subject to wear reinforced by blending or plying polyester or nylon fibres or filaments (which may be textured) with the cotton. The reinforced yarns lie predominantly on the face of the fabric; for example they are in the warp of a poplin fabric. The reinforced zones may be marked by yarns of different colour or thickness or by a different weave.
