The invention describes a method and apparatus for taking pictures with altered colored schemes. In particular, a chosen bandwidth (51) from a scene (20) is reproduced on a photograph (5) while all other colors from the scene are produced in black and white. The chosen bandwidth (51) can be either from the visible spectrum or from the infrared spectrum. Using the method of the present invention, special effects can be produced on photographs that require no special photographic equipment or specialized developing techniques.
