PURPOSE:To provide a pulp mold material having excellent cushioning property, water-resistance and material strength (breaking strength, elongation at break, etc.) and useful as a substitute for expanded polystyrene for packaging material. CONSTITUTION:The objective pulp mold material contains pulp 1 as a main component and hollow particles 2 as subsidiary component. The mold material is preferably further incorporated with a pulp plasticizer (e.g. glycerol), a water- resistance imparting agent (e.g. rosin-based sizing agent), a biodegradable binder (e.g. chitosan) and non-pulp natural fiber having fiber length of >=10mm. A foaming agent is preferably used in the production of the mold material. |
