Method of working up a paper slurry in order to use it as a filler for asphalt concrete or stone mastic consists, of burning the slurry to produce an ash at over 800 deg.C. and then mixing the ash with a weak filler material in which the ash content is max. 50 wt.%. Pref. 10-40, more esp. 20-30 wt.% ash is used in the mixt. with crushed stone, calcium carbonate or sand stone as the filler. The paper slurry is heated at pref. 850-950 deg.C.. ADVANTAGE - Less bitumin is used in the prodn. of the asphalt concrete. The grain size of the ash is more uniform leading to an optimal density in the final prod..
