PURPOSE:To obtain a permanent magnet alloy having large coercive force by rapidly cooling a molten alloy contg. prescribed percentages of a rare earth element, B and Fe so as to form a prescribed fine tetragonal compound as a principal phase. CONSTITUTION:An alloy contg., by atom, 8-30% R (Y or a rare earth element), 2-28% B and 42-9% Fe as principal components is refined. This molten alloy is rapidly cooled to obtain a permanent magnet alloy having >=12KOe coercive force at room temp. The alloy has a composite structure of <=5mum grain size contg. a tetragonal compound as a principal phase. The permanent magnet alloy having said especially large coercive force is obtd. without using expensive Sm and Co. |
