PURPOSE:To obtain an electrochemical gas sensor which can be used for detecting the concentration of a gas in the atmosphere, etc. CONSTITUTION:The title sensor has a housing 30 and water tank 40 attached to the housing 30 with a partition wall 20 in between and the housing 30 has a vent hole 34 through which a gas to be inspected is introduced into the housing 30 and internal space 35 in which the introduced gas to be inspected is diffused. A sensor element 10 is housed in the space 35 and a communicative hole 36 through which the space 35 is communicated with the tank 40 is formed through the wall 20. The element 10 is constituted of a working and counter electrodes 70 and 90 which are faced to each other and a solid electrolytic film 110 which coats the electrodes 70 and 90 and becomes an electrolyte when the film 110 contains water. The sensor also has a water-absorptive membrane 50 which, airtight when moistened, has one end blocking the hole 36 and the other end immersed in a water-phase section 46 in the tank 40. |
