A winder is for winding man-made yarns in spinning and/or drwing units and incorporates a traversing unit and a rotating revolver, (8) on which two winding spindles are mounted rotatingly. Both spindles are mounted radially on the revolver (8). The spindle in operation (.1) located in an inner position until the package (10.1) reduces on it is full. The operating spindle (7.1) remains in operation until the full package (10.1) located on it has reached such a dia. that it almost touches the empty tube (6.2) mounted on the empty spindle. The revolver (9) is turned until the empty spindle reaches the operating position and the yarn (1) is relaied from the full package (10.1) on to the empty tube (6.2). The former operating spindle is moved axially outwards in relation to the revolver (8) while the yarn (1) is wound on the empty spindle (7.2), the full package (10.1) is removed axially from the former operating spindle (7.1). ADVANTAGE - Permits the winding of large packages without increasing the size of the machine or the min. distance between two identical machines.
