PURPOSE:To provide a method and an apparatus for aligning a collet in which the collet is automatically centered. CONSTITUTION:The method for aligning a collet comprises the steps of detecting a needle position to a camera center by recognizing a profile of a needle base 6 with a needle 6a erected, horizontally moving a collet 4 having a pellet sucking square conical recess 4b, bringing an end of the needle into contact with the conical surface of the recess to detect a collet center, and sensing a collet suction position from the collet center and the needle position to the camera center. The apparatus for aligning the collet comprises the base 6 implanted with the needle 6a, a TV camera 7 for recognizing a profile of the base 6, a collet driver for moving the collet 4, a collet position detector 8 for detecting the collet center by bringing the end of the needle in contact with the conical surface of the recess, and a processor for detecting the collect suction position from the relative position of the collet center to the camera center. |
