The combustion fuel, on incinerating material, contains pollutants. Instead of combustion air, steam is injected periodically into the glowing bed of the combustion chamber. The stream is injected without timewise interruption. Prior to injecting, the steam is superheated to at least 900 deg C. The combustion can be carried out in laboratory conditions, for refuse incineration, or for gasifying of raw lignite, using two-part ceramic, eg. quartz, tube. ADVANTAGE - No generation of nitrogen oxides.
