The method is characterized by (a) firing a calcium salt and an activator (Cu) by the vapour phase reaction method under the H2S atmosphere to obtain a CaS:Cu, and (b) coactivating the CaS:Cu with a coactivator (Na salt) and a flux by the solid phase reaction method at 1000-3000 deg.C for 1-4 hr(s). Pref. the Ca salt is CaCO3 or CaSO4; the flux is at least one compound selected from the group of NH4Cl, NaCl, Na2SO4, Na2CO3, (NH4)2PO4 or S; and the coactivator is NaCl, Na2CO3 or Na2SO4.
