A vulcanizable rubber composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a polymer component composed of 30-80 wt.% of an ethylene/ alpha -olefin/nonconjugated diene copolymer having a Mooney viscosity (ML1+4 at 100 DEG C) of 10 to 100, an ethylene to alpha -olefin ratio of 50/50 to 90/10 by weight and an iodine value of 20 to 45 and 70-20 wt.% of a styrene/conjugated diolefin block copolymer, 20-150 parts by weight of a reinforcing filler, 3-30 parts by weight of sulfur, 0-50 parts by weight of a styrenic resin, and 0-100 parts by weight of an extender oil.
