Before being fed between the nip rolls into the stuffer box, the strand is heated and the roll temp. is kept as low as the temp. of the preheated infed strands, despite compressive or frictional heating of the rolls, by applying cooling fluid to the feed rolls downstream from the infeeding of the strands. |
