PURPOSE:To provide a light-absorbing or light-emitting pattern display medium which is suitable for printing a different pattern in each sheet and can be accurately read with a reading device even when the print pattern is hardly visible and the min. pattern width is narrow. CONSTITUTION:A display layer 2 is formed on a substrate 1. This display layer 2 consists of a light-absorbing layer containing such an absorbing material that has no main absorption in 400-700nm wavelength region or consists of a light-emitting layer containing such a phosphor having no absorption in 400-700nm, wavelength. Then a transmittance-variable layer 3 in which the transmittance for light changes reversibly or irreversible by heat, applied voltage, or irradiation of light is formed on the display layer 2 or on the other side of the transparent substrate 1 opposite to the display layer 2. Thus, the light-absorbing or light-emitting pattern display medium is obtd. |
