A central locking system for the doors and petrol cap of a car has at least one control position for the lock release using a coded signal, plus a secondary control position to prevent outsider entry, so that full entry is only possible when the secondary lock is released within a certain time interval. There is a timer in the circuitry for the secondary lock which once started, cannot be restarted within the preset time interval, and which returns to its original state at the end of that interval. Both initial and secondary control operations can be by remote control (e.g. infra-red beam). ADVANTAGE - Extra secure central locking system.
