PURPOSE:To obtain an oil-absorbing cellulose yarn useful as an oil adsorbing material and materials around kitchen, having excellent oil adsorbability, combustible, by providing cellulose yarn with a specific amount of a silicone-based or zirconiumbased water repellent. CONSTITUTION:Cotton, cotton linter, pulp, viscose rayon, cupraammonium rayon or its modified article is immersed in a treating solution containing a silicone- based or zirconium-based water repellent such as methylhydrogenpolysiloxane and dehydrated to give the cellulose yarn having 0.1-10wt.% of the water repellent. Then the cellulose yarn is treated in a dry state at 100 deg.C for 10 minutes, heat-treated at 165 deg.C for 2 minutes and carded to form an oil-adsorbing material made of a felt having 50g/m<2> weight and 5mm thickness. |
