METHOD FOR TREATING CUT POLYESTER SHORT FIBER

PURPOSE:To loosen polyester short fibers where end parts of fibers are mutually fused during cutting by a cutter and made like leaves of Japanese white pine. CONSTITUTION:Cut polyester short fibers are immersed in a heated alkali solution and fused parts between fibers at cut section are decomposed and removed. Sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is preferably used as the alkali. The yield of the short fibers is increased and qualities of products using the short fibers are improved.
