PURPOSE:To prepare an organic dinitrile compound, safely and easily, in high yield, by reacting an organic dibasic acid with NH3 in the presence of a divalent zinc salt of a specific acid or acid anhydride as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A dinitrile compound is prepared by adding a salt of divalent zinc to an alpha,omega-aliphatic long chain dibasic acid expressed by the formula (n is integer of 6-10) and introducing NH3 into the mixture while heating and stirring. The alpha,omega-aliphatic long chain dibasic acid is, e.g. suberic acid, azelaic acid, sebacic acid and dodecane diacid. The salt of divalent zinc is, pref. an inorganic acid salt of Zn<++> which reacts easily with the dibasic acid on heating to give a divalent zinc soap, etc. (e.g. basic zinc carbonate). The amount of the salt is pref. 0.01- 5 mol% on the basis of the alpha,omega-long chain dibasic acid. EFFECT:The amounts of the resinous tar and the industrial wastes are extremely reduced. |
