<p>A method for continuously measuring the concentration of a component in a multicomponent fluid, wherein the component has a significant vapour pressure in the air or gas immediately above the fluid, is characterized in that the method comprises continuously measuring the concentration of the component in the air or gas immediately above the surface of the multicomponent fluid and comparing the measured concentration of the component in the air or gas with a standard, which standard is a measured concentration of the same component in the air or gas immediately above a similar multicomponent fluid of known composition. The method of the present invention has been found to be a surprisingly accurate method for continuously measuring the concentration of a component in a multicomponent fluid and is advantageous over titration and colouration techniques since no reagents need be made up.</p> |
