PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium having good workability and capable of obtaining color printing free from a printing stain by one thermal transfer treatment. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer recording medium wherein a thermal transfer ink layer is provided on a heat-resistant base material, the thermal transfer ink layer mainly consists of a thermoplastic resin and/or wax (a) with an m.p. or softening point of 60-150 deg.C, a resin (b) having self-adhesiveness at room temp. and a colorant (c) and the wt. ratios of the components (a), (b), (c) are respectively 40-80%, 5-40% and 5-40%. That is, by combining a certain specific resin and/or a self-adhesive and a colorant, the base material is bonded to receiving paper by the pressure at the time of printing to be not taken up by a ribbon and, since the thermal transfer ink layer is closely bonded to the base material by a self-adhesive so as not to be transferred at the time of transfer, no contamination after printing is generated and good printing is obtained. |
