PURPOSE:To accurately perform stroboscopic photography extending over a wide range from a short distance to a long distance by accurately setting diaphragm extending over the wide range from the short distance to the long distance and to perform the stroboscopic photography with small exposure error extending over more wide range from macro to the long distance by switching the guide number corresponding to distance to an object in the stroboscopic photographic system of an electronic still camera. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 9, after confirming the completion of charge on a charge circuit 28 first when an operation of stroboscopic photography is performed, reads the present value of diaphragm by an automatic iris control circuit 10a. When the value shows a scheduled open value or the one near to it, an AF operation is started up, and an appropriate F value is calculated from the number of pulses when focusing is obtained. A stroboscopic guide number is set by the number of pulses. In other words, a switching signal is outputted from a guide number switching circuit 25 when the distance shows the long distance. The stroboscopic photography can be performed by performing a release-on operation after setting the value at a calculated diaphragmic value. |
