The invention concerns a band-like fastening device which can be opened and then closed again, for connections of several different types, for example for joining tubes and conduits or the like, closure members for bags and containers, etc. The fastening device consists of an elastically stretchable band 1, on one side 4 of which there is an adhesion surface with gripping members such as eyelets 2, and on the other side 5 of which there is a coupling surface with coupling members such as hooks 3. The surfaces 4, 5 together form an adhesion coupling, and, when the band 1 is stretched, the spacing between the gripping members 2 of the surface 4 increases, as does the spacing of the coupling members 3 on the surface 5, in the direction of stretching, and after the adhesion surface 4 and the coupling surface 5 have been brought into engagement with each other and the effect of the stretching force on the band 1 has ceased, the gripping members 2 and the coupling members 3 move nearer each other on account of the restoring force effected by the elasticity of the band 1 and thereby increase the strength of the connection between the gripping and coupling members 2, 3 in the direction of the said restoring force and at the same time exert a tightening force on the piece which is to be secured. <IMAGE>
