摘要 PURPOSE:To provide the subject cutting tool improved in toughness. CONSTITUTION:Al2O3 is incorporated with 0.02-1wt.% (based on the whole; all the fallowings are wt.% based on the whole) of at least one kind of powder selected from respective carbonate powder, nitrate powder, chloride powder and oxide powder respectively of Ca, Ba and Sr znd 0.02-1wt.% of SiO2 powder and/or an alkoxide, followed by heating the resultant mixture to 600-1050 deg.C in an oxidative atmosphere and keeping it at the final temperature. Then, the resultant mixture is incorporated with 5-30wt.% of ZrO2 powder and/or partially stabilized ZrO2 powder and 5-30wt.% of SiC whisker, followed by hot press sintering to obtain the objective cutting tool.
