HIGH-EFFICIENCY ENCODING METHOD

PURPOSE:To obtain a reproduced sound of high quality on the synthesis side of an MBE (multiband excited) vocoder, etc. CONSTITUTION:An orthogonal transformation part 15 converts speech signals in block units on a frequency axis to obtain data on the frequency axis. A phase evaluation part 19 detects block initial phases by bands of the data on the frequency axis. A phase prediction and error evaluation part 20 calculates errors between the predicted phases and a measured phase. According to the errors, the voiced sound area and voiceless sound area on the frequency axis can be varied in width.
