The compounds have the formula:- (where R is hydroxyl, aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic, polynuclear aromatic, anthraquinone or heterocyclic, opt. substd. by halogen, alkyl, nitro, hydroxy, amino, aryloxy, alkoxy, alkylthio, sulphonamido, oxo, carboxyl, carboxyalkyl, di- or mono-alkylamino, n is 1 or 2 and R1 is (un)substituted (cyclo) alkyl or aralkyl). Pref. R1 = Me, Et or Bz. They may be produced by reacting an acylating agent containing R with a cpd. H2NC(=NH)-NH-C(SR)=NH. Suitable acylating agents are acid chlorides, bromides, anhydrides or azides, acylpyrimidinium salts, esters or thioesters, N-phthaloylamides, isocyanates, ketenes or phosgenes, but pref. chlorides and ketenes. Yield is 80 to 100%, and suitable reaction conditions 20 to 100 degrees C for ten mins. to five hours. |
