A cap (6) is provided complementary to that of the tank cap on which it fits. A ring is located in the tank cap to avoid corrosion from the tank. The cap (6) has a body (8) with an orifice (9) located ahead of the central orifice in the tank cap. Between the tank cap walls and the internal walls of the cap (6) along the external periphery of the ring is a vacuum. The body (8) of the cap (6) has in its upper part orifices (11,12) for the injection of thermoplastic material into the vacuum. The body (8) of the cap (6) has a base (10) which covers a welding line (2) for fixing the tank cap onto the tank external wall. USE/ADVANTAGE - A protective cap provided for a lifting ring which avoids its deterioration resulting from mechanical forces during handling.
