PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device which outputs sounds to be clearly head by correcting regenerative audio signals changed with the interval at any reproducing speed except standard speed. CONSTITUTION:A VTR to reproduce audio signals at any speed except the standard speed is provided with a sound/interval conversion processing circuit 20 to convert the interval of audio signals outputted from an audio signal processing circuit 15. When a speed designating circuit 29 outputs a reproduced speed ratio at the time of reproducing a magnetic tape, the audio signal processing circuit 15 stores reproduced sounds in an audio signal memory 24. Then, the stored audio data of respective sampling periods are read out while changing the reading cycles. Thus, the sound at the same interval as the recording time is reproduced, and the sounds to be clearly heard are outputted synchronously to pictures.
