(57) A device for cutting sheets of wood off square timber (2) without forming chips exhibits two measurement devices (3, 4), which determine the taper of the square timber (2) in the transverse direction. A cutter blade (10), which cuts the sheets from the square timber (2), can be pivoted around a swivel axis (15) extending at right angles to the cutter blade (10), in order to produce a relative pivoting motion between the cutter blade (10) and a timber guide surface (8) located at a distance from the blade. The pivoting motion is controlled as a function of the measurements furnished by the measurement devices (3, 4), in order to compensate for the taper of the square timber in the transverse direction.</p> |
