The simulator device uses a beam from an infrared laser working pref. in the 860 or 905 nm wavelength region which is projected through a spatial scattering filter on to the target which wears a harness (7) around the upper part of the body carrying a number of photodetectors (5) of different sensitivity wired to a control circuit (8). A hit is indicated by an acoustic or optical signalling device (9) also carried on the harness. The detector outputs are processed to distinguish between direct hits, other hits, ricochets and misses. ADVANTAGE - Simple device gives realistic evaluation of accuracy of aim.
