The connector has an insulating housing with a number of adjacent channels (13) for the cable wires, separated from one another by ribs (14) which each have a separation edge (15) at their free end, extending in the channel direction, used to separate the adjacent cable wires. All the ribs have the same width, with their separation edges lying at different heights, those in the centre lying at the greatest height. An angled guide face (16) lies behind each separation edge for guiding the separated conductors in the outwards direction into the corresponding channels. ADVANTAGE - Relative spacing between ribbon cable conductors is automatically increased during insertion in connector, to allow automatic connector assembly.
