Cyclohexylsulphamic acid is produced by passing sulphur dioxide into a reaction mixture consisting of water, nitrocyclohexane and zinc, tin or iron, until the pH is reduced to below 3À3. Preferably the reaction is carried out at a temperature of 0-90‹ C. and a pressure of 10- 50 inches of water. Salts of Cyclohexylsulphamic acid may be obtained by neutralizing the acid so prepared with a base, e.g. sodium hydroxide. |
