PURPOSE:To provide a sodium-sulfur battery for carrying out charging reaction smoothly, and a manufacturing method for forming a homogeneous sulfur coating layer and a high resistance layer on the outer surface of a solid electrolyte tube. CONSTITUTION:A solid electrolyte tube 3 made of alumina to be arranged in a positive electrode container for partitioning a negative electrode chamber and a positive electrode chamber, is soaked in a solution L consisting of sulfur in a molten condition, and is then it is lifted, and a sulfur coating layer is formed on the outer surface of the solid electrolyte tube 3. The solid electrolyte tube 3 is soaked in a solution L in which alumina powder serving as a high resistance layer forming material is dispersed in the sulfur in the molten condition, and then it is lifted, and an alumina thin film, namely a high resistance layer is formed on the outer surface of the solid electrolyte tube 3. |
