PURPOSE:To provide a driver for an alternating current driving type plasma display panel which has simple constitution and can collect and reuse electric power concerning charging and discharging for scanning electrodes which are independent one another. CONSTITUTION:When scanning electrodes Y1-Yn are at 0 volt, a switch 32A is turned on, and the scanning electrodes Y1-Yn are charged by collected electric charge of a capacitor 31 via a switch 32A, a coil 33A, and diodes 61A-6nA, a switch 34A is turned on, and electric charge is supplied to the scanning electrodes Y1-Yn from a voltage supply line Vs side via a switch 34A and diodes 61A-6nA. When potential of the scanning electrodes Y1-Yn are Vs, a switch 32B is turned on, and electric charge on the scanning electrodes Y1-Yn is collected by the capacitor 31 via diodes 61B-6nB, a coil 33B, and the switch 32B, then a switch 34B is turned on, and electric charge on the scanning electrodes Y1-Yn is discharged to the ground line side via diodes 61B-6nB and the switch 34B.
