The circuit breaker has two longitudinal ramps (13) provided on a trolley (3) on a lower support (14) with ramps (15,16) and the ramps operate with a friction-roller and support (18) which is fixed to the chassis (19) of the cell and under the ramp. The position of the two ramps and the two friction-rollers moves along a sloping ramp and towards connection. The slope inverts just at the position of contact where the slope is upwards (17) so that the trolley can reverse very quickly when disconnection occurs. A push-bar is used to assist in reconnection of the contacts to help overcome electromagnetic forces through the connection pins (4,5).
