ADJUSTABLE ATTENUATOR

An adjustable attenuator comprises a section of the rectangular wave-guide (1) with a communication opening (2) in the wide wall and a movable metal plate (3) with an absorber (4) flush-mounted in it, which is located above the communication opening (2). To increase the precision of setting the desired attenuation degree, to reduce the standing wave ratio (SWR), and to reduce the irregularity of the amplitude-frequency characteristic, the movable metal plate (3) is mounted with the possibility of its transverse movement in relation to the axis of the wave-guide, and the plane of the plate (3) with the absorber (4) mounted in it forms together with the other walls of the wave-guide (1) a channel of adjustable cross-section. The absorber (4) may be made no larger than the width of the wide wall of the wave-guide (1), and the metal plate (3) may be made no smaller than the double width of the wide wall of the wave-guide (1).
