The forks (8,9) have collars (10) fitting round a rectangular section cross-beam (2). The cross-beam forms part of a welded triangular frame with inclined struts (3,4) and a top bracket (5). A pillar (6) with a top cantilever (7) can be fixed in the bracket at an adjustable height from the forks. To strengthen the collar, which is a weak point in the conventional design, an inverted U-section reinforcing piece is welded between the front and rear walls of the collar. In an alternative design the reinforcing piece is secured by bolts. ADVANTAGE - Life of forks is increased.
