A condenser (46 or 94) is positioned in high-pressure refrigerant line (58) of a cooling system. The condenser (46 or 94) is formed of thermally-conductive material defining a closed reservoir (76 or 106) for accumulating liquid refrigerant. An inlet (78) receives the refrigerant flow from the high-pressure line (58) and an outlet (80) discharges the accumulated liquid refrigerant to an expansion valve. A conduit (86) within the reservoir (76 or 106) conducts the refrigerant flow from the inlet (78) to a region of the reservoir (76 or 106) above the outlet (80). The conduit (86) is apertured to direct substantially all of the refrigerant flow against upper portions of the condenser (46 or 94), specifically against one side (74 or 100) of the condenser (46 or 94). That side (74 or 100) of the condenser (46 or 94) is exposed to the flow of cold fluid medium (typically air) produced by the system to condense a gaseous component of the refrigeration flow. |
