The heat exchanger tube system consists of a series of tubes (80) which run in the same direction and form flat panels (81) of parallel tubes, each with a free surface (82). Each panel is made from two flat walls (77, 82, 84), linked by a series of parallel transverse partitions (83, 85).Variants of the design can employ different numbers of panels, all with parallel tubes, and with some panels fitted so that their tubes run perpendicular to those in an adjacent panel. The panels are used to transmit a cooling and a cooled fluid, and have a space (86) between them for the formation and storage of ice. The system also incorporates a condensate extractor.
