摘要 PURPOSE:To provide a bidirectional optical transmitter which is free from the noises by providing the signals having the same phases and levels and the adverse polarities and then canceling these signals by means of the signal which transmits the reflected wave generated by an optical connector from its own station. CONSTITUTION:The transmitted data are inputted to a laser diode 12 via a driver 11 and converted into the optical signals. These optical signals are sent to an optical transmission line via an optical directional coupler 30 and the optical connectors C1 and C2. The reflected wave of the connector C1 is inputted to a photodetecting element 22 through the coupler 30 and then inputted to a mixer 71 via an amplifier 21. Meanwhile the optical signal of its own station that is outputted from a 2nd output terminal of the coupler 30 is inputted to a variable delay circuit 51 via a photodetecting element 42 and an amplifier 41 to undergo the matching of the phase with the reflected wave and also to undergo the matching of the level with the reflected wave through a variable attenuator 61. Such optical signal is inputted to a mixer 71 and the reflected wave is canceled by the mixer 71. In such a way, the reflected wave of the optical connector is canceled by the signal transmitted from its own station. Thus it is possible to obtain an inexpensive bidirectional optical transmitter which is free from the noises.
