Laser milling and engraving machine for working flat workpieces has a suction area (13) underneath the focussing nozzle (3) of the laser head. This area is connected to suction device (20) inside suction tube (19) via openings (16) which are axially parallel to the central axis (2). The area (13) is defined by workpiece surface, nozzle body (3) and side seals (15) made of series of brushes. USE/ADVANTAGE - Working foil, sheet and plate made of metal, plastic or felt. Blasting air from source (11) can be circulated through area (13) without fear of deposits around the work area and edge blowing of the cut section leading to unsmooth edges.
