PURPOSE:To obtain an absolute position detecting type magnetic scale steel rod for a positioning cylinder by continuously changing the amt. of martensite to be generated along the longitudinal direction of a steel rod in which the content of C, Mn, Si, Cr, Ni and N is specified. CONSTITUTION:In a steel rod having a compsn. of, by weight, 0.02 0.1% C, 0.5 to 1% Mn, 0.5 to 1% Si, 17 to 20% Cr, 5 to 8% Ni and 0.05 to 0.2% C+N, and the balance substantial Fe, unstable austenite is subjected to cold working to generate martensite. By locally melting treatment, it is returned to austenite to form a magnetic scale. The change of the amt. of martensite to be generated along the longitudinal direction continuously changes its saturation magnetic flux density, by which the objective absolute position detecting type magnetic scale steel rod can be obtd. |
