The formed component (3) for dental prosthesis is coated (2) on all sides, with at least one or more layers of organic, inorganic or metal materials and/or a suitable combination of these materials. Pref. materials are filled and/or unfilled and/or fibre-reinforced plastics, organic or inorganic composites, ceramics, carbon materials such as graphite or CFC materials and/or metals and/or metal alloys or the initial stages of these materials. The formed component (3) can either be built up on a positive model (1) by deposition, pressing into place or coasting, and the hardened and/or converted by chemical-physical action. Or it can be a substractive operation from raw material or a semi-finished workpiece. The chemical-physical action to convert the initial materials can be a cross linking reaction and/or sintering carbonising process, carried out after surface coating of the formed component or after the prosthesis is finished, so that each component can be prefabricated with or without a coating. The formed part (3) remains in the cpd. structure, also after coating (2), with the required three-dimensional geometry. USE-ADVANTAGE - The dental prosthesis can be coated directly and on all sides such as a dental plate, with precision in a single operation with a choice of materials to give the required strength in a thin structure. Where gold is used, only a thin layer is required which reduces gold usage, with reduced weight and material costs.
