<p>PURPOSE:To provide a phenylalanineammonia lyase inhibitor containing, as active ingredient, an aminoxyfatty acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective inhibitor containing, as active ingredient, a compound of formula I [R<1> and R<2> are each H or combined into phthaloyl; R<3> and R<4> are each H, lower alkyl or phenyl; A is lower alkoxy or group of formula NR<5>R<6> (R<5> is H or lower alkyl; R<6> is lower alkyl or phenyl); n is 1-3] (e.g. N-(phenylcarbamoylmethyloxy)phthalimide). This inhibitor highly inhibits phenylalanineammonia lyase irreversibly. The compound of the formula I, which is partly a new compound, can be obtained by reaction of a N- hydroxyphthalimide compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (Y is halogen). This compound can regulate the production of the secondary metabolites derived from phenylalanine and trans-cinnamic acid, and can be used as a herbicide or plant growth regulator by controlling its use.</p> |
