<p>Polyphenol oligomers, partic. useful for producing hardenable, heat-stable, oxidation- and corrosion-resistant epoxy resins, are prepd. by contacting a polyphenol, pref. mono- and polycyclic polyphenols with at least 2 OH-groups attached to same aromatic ring, with a P cpd., pref. P2O5, polyphosphoric acids, H3PO4 and/or organic P acids, at 150-400 degrees C, in amt. to provide 0.5-70 g. atom P per 100 moles polyphenol.</p> |
