<p>A cardan type universal joint having cup-shaped bearing races for pivotally and drivingly connecting a pair of yoke members to a journal cross in torque transmitting relation wherein the bearing cups are provided with an improved thrust receiving surface in the form of a tapered annular raised rib which is integral with the inner face of the end wall. In another embodiment this feature is combined with a crowned surface on the cylindrical side wall of the bearing race which is designed to permit better distribution of load over the mean span of the trunnion portions of the journal cross.</p> |
